Glazing is the result from the formation of insoluble components from the ink, paper, and water mixture. Usually occurring on rollers and blankets.
|Water supply contains a very high level of hardness(hard water salts).||Treat water with either a Reverse Osmosis system or water softening unit to remove hard water salts.|
|Ink(especially magenta and red’s)||Consult ink manufacturer. Consult chemical supplier for an additive to help reduce glazing.|
|Fountain chemistry mix not correct||Check pH and conductivity of press mix. Adjust to proper dosage.|
|Wrong chemistry being used||Consult chemistry supplier to get a product more compatible with ink and water. Look at a mild acid solution.|
|Paper is highly alkaline and contains a high degree of calcium carbonate||Consult paper supplier for a better grade of paper.|
