MicroPolish II and MicroPolish are two inhibited deoxidizers formulated for titanium and titanium alloys including Nitinol. Each product acts as a cleaner/deoxidizer and slow chemical polish effective in removing surface metal oxides but only slowly etching base metals. Of the two polishes, MicroPolish II is slightly less aggressive. Overall, the etch rates are low for both polishes when compared to traditional deoxidizing chemistries. They are particularly suitable for applications where avoiding dimensional and weight losses is of critical importance (for example in devices utilizing fine wires).
CoCr Cleaner is an acidic bath used for cleaning and deoxidizing cobalt/chromium alloys to render them suitable for medical and aerospace applications. It?s relatively mild nature makes it suitable for light oxides. Use Alkaline Descale (RDZ-1734-5) (available from RBP) for heavier/colored oxides.
CoCr Cleaner may also be used as a chemical polish for 300 series stainless steel. It is more reactive towards stainless steel than on CoCr.
Medical components formed from nitinol, other titanium alloys and chrome alloys are often extruded, drawn and oxidized in the formation process, which creates organometallic compounds and oxides. These compounds are often difficult to remove without etching the metal, and therefore must be destroyed to be removed. While simple organic soils can be removed with many degreasers, such cleaning products are likely to be ineffective when the soils are “baked-in”. MicroClean Ti is a remedy for such situations and assures that the subsequent steps of deoxidizing and electropolishing are fully effective.
