Glazing is the result from the formation of insoluble components from the ink, paper, and water mixture. Usually occurring on rollers and blankets.
|Water supply contains a very high level of hardness(hard water salts).
|Treat water with either a Reverse Osmosis system or water softening unit to remove hard water salts.
|Ink(especially magenta and red’s)
|Consult ink manufacturer. Consult chemical supplier for an additive to help reduce glazing.
|Fountain chemistry mix not correct
|Check pH and conductivity of press mix. Adjust to proper dosage.
|Wrong chemistry being used
|Consult chemistry supplier to get a product more compatible with ink and water. Look at a mild acid solution.
|Paper is highly alkaline and contains a high degree of calcium carbonate
|Consult paper supplier for a better grade of paper.
